El Peso de las Cosas (2017)

El Peso de las Cosas (The Weight of Things) is a visual narrative that stages the idea of the inevitable—of processes that follow their own internal logic, time, and development. Conceived as a trigger for perceptual experiences, the project begins with the act of planting two cherry trees under specific conditions, incorporating elements from the artist’s practice—such as fabrics and clays.

Over time, the trees produced modifications, marks, and traces in their surroundings and in the associated objects. These inevitable actions were then gathered and displayed as an archive.

Three works take on distinct and specific roles in The Weight of Things: the ceramic necklace, as an embodiment of circularity; the ceramic shards on the floor, as an expression of the mental state the exhibition seeks to evoke; and the sack hanging in the middle of the room, as the inevitable weight of things.
