Paula

I am a visual artist, associate professor, and head of the Sculpture Department at the Catholic University of Chile’s School of Art, where I lead senior creative workshops and conduct research on creative processes, soft materialities, public art, and nature. I also teach at the university’s Institute for Sustainable Development, where I explore how creativity, the arts, and the humanities can contribute to addressing today’s socio-environmental challenges.

In my artistic practice, I focus on processes that foster a deeper sensitivity to the relational nature of artworks and their connection with the environment. Since 2018, I have increasingly shifted my attention toward creating artistic experiences for audiences beyond the traditional art world—neighbors, communities, and individuals who might encounter art as a way to reflect on and engage with their surroundings in meaningful ways.

In 2014, I founded Nube Lab, a non-profit organization formed by a collective of artists who aim to make art accessible to all. Throughout my career, I have held 15 solo exhibitions and participated in 25 group exhibitions, including at the 23rd Biennale of Sydney and the Faena Prize for the Arts in Miami.
Through artistic thinking, I would like to encourage the development of essential human abilities that contribute to a sensitive and profound understanding of the important things on which life is based.
